The oil pump is the core component of the engine lubrication system, used to circulate and pressurize oil to the surfaces of various moving parts. Its damage can lead to phenomena such as weak acceleration, abnormal noise, and malfunction lights, mainly related to improper use and maintenance of inferior engine oil.
Symptoms of oil pump malfunction
Abnormal power: There is a noticeable jolt during rapid acceleration, and the power is soft and sluggish when going uphill or overtaking. ‌
Difficulty starting: It takes a long time to turn the key to ignite, and cold starting is more obvious. ‌
Abnormal noise characteristics: continuous buzzing sound during driving, accompanied by metal friction sound in severe cases. ‌
Alarm prompt: The engine malfunction light is on, and the oil temperature gauge rises abnormally above 100 ℃. ‌
Mechanical shaking: The steering wheel and seats vibrate significantly at idle, which may be accompanied by black smoke from the exhaust pipe. ‌
Core functions of oil pump
Pressure lubrication: Pressurize the engine oil to 150-600kPa and forcefully deliver it to moving parts such as the crankshaft and piston. ‌
Cycle guarantee: By continuously pumping oil through gear meshing or rotor rotation, a complete lubrication circuit is formed. ‌
Heat dissipation assistance: The flowing engine oil takes away the heat generated by friction and maintains the working temperature. ‌
Oil pump selection and maintenance
Replace qualified engine oil and filter every 5000-10000 kilometers. ‌
Avoid causing "dry pumping" when the oil level is below the minimum mark. ‌
Immediately stop the vehicle for inspection upon discovering the oil pressure alarm, and replace vulnerable parts such as improved wiring harnesses in a timely manner. ‌
